We’re pleased to share highlights from the 2-day pilot course “Outcomes-Based Education – Micro-Credentials and the European Qualifications Framework” held in Malta, at MaritimeMT, on 27–28 October 2025.
The pilot course brought together educators, trainers, and maritime professionals to explore the principles and practical applications of Outcomes-Based Education (OBE), micro-credentials, and their alignment with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and the Bologna Process.
On the first day, participants explored Outcomes-Based Education in the context of the Bologna Process and the EQ Framework, followed by sessions on Competence-Based Education and Micro-Credentials. The second day focused on Quality Assurance and Evaluation, Pedagogical Innovations and Adult Learning, and concluded with a workshop on the adoption of OBE and micro-credential principles in the maritime industry.
The event provided an excellent platform for sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and testing innovative approaches to enhance the integration of OBE and micro-credential models in maritime education and training. More than 20 participants took part in the programme, contributing to valuable discussions and collaborative learning.
