The Final MICROMET Project Conference was held on 27 May 2026 at the Barcelona School of Nautical Studies (FNB-UPC), in cooperation with the 11th International Conference on Maritime Transport (MT’26) and project partner FNB-UPC. The event was free of charge and brought together more than 70 participants from the project partnership and the wider maritime education community. It served as the concluding event of the MICROMET project, implemented under the Erasmus+ programme KA2 – Cooperation partnership in higher education.
The conference began with registration and an opening address, followed by the presentation of the MICROMET project, including its key findings and final results. After a coffee break, the conference continued with an overview of the project and its work packages. The morning session included presentations on WP2, focused on short learning programmes in the maritime industry, WP3, dedicated to policy and curricula in higher maritime education institutions, WP4, concerning the role of training centres in micro-credentials recognition, and WP5, addressing quality assurance.
Following the conference lunch, the scientific paper Strengthening Maritime Education: The Status of Micro-Credentials in Maritime Higher Education Institutions was presented, followed by a presentation on lessons learned and future collaboration opportunities. The event concluded with the closing ceremony and final remarks, which reflected on the project results and future cooperation.
